Mini CNC Aluminium Housing for the Original Triumph Speedometer

Product overview

The original Triumph twin clocks are iconic, but the OEM plastic housing is large, bulky, positioned far from the handlebar area and does not match the premium finish expected on a clean custom build. The Bonvent Mini Speedometer Housing keeps the original Triumph speedometer and tachometer electronics, while replacing the entire OEM plastic outer case with a smaller CNC-machined aluminium housing.

Compatibility

  • Triumph T120 — all years
  • Triumph T100 liquid-cooled — 2017 to now
  • Triumph Street Cup — all years
  • Triumph Thruxton 1200 — all years
  • Triumph Thruxton R — all years
  • Triumph Thruxton RS — all years
  • Triumph Speed Twin 1200 — all years

A full aluminium case, not a simple speedometer cover

This product is not a decorative speedometer cover and it does not simply hide the original plastic shell.

It is a full replacement speedometer case. The original Triumph instrument cluster is removed from the motorcycle, the OEM electronics are taken out of the stock plastic housing, and the complete electronics are reinstalled inside the Bonvent CNC aluminium housing.

This means the entire original plastic outer case is replaced, not only the visible top cover.

Smaller, cleaner and closer to the cockpit

The Bonvent housing was designed to make the original Triumph twin clocks as compact as possible while keeping the OEM electronics intact.

The supplied matte black powder-coated steel mounting bracket positions the speedometer assembly closer to the handlebar and front fork area than the bulky stock setup. This creates a tighter, cleaner cockpit without changing the original Triumph twin-clock layout.

The result is especially useful for Triumph Bonneville T100 café racer builds, T120 scrambler builds, Thruxton 1200 custom builds, Speed Twin 1200 tracker-style projects and clean Street Cup cockpit upgrades.

Keep the original Triumph electronics and functions

The Bonvent housing is designed to reuse the original Triumph speedometer and tachometer electronics. The goal is to improve the look and size of the cockpit without replacing the OEM instrument with a universal aftermarket gauge.

Because the original electronics are kept, the factory warning lights, display logic and original instrument functions remain based on the stock Triumph system.

Compatible with a stock Triumph setup

The Bonvent Mini Speedometer Housing is designed to work with a stock Triumph setup. It keeps the original twin-clock electronics and can be installed with the stock headlight, stock handlebar area and original front-end components. No headlight conversion or cockpit modification is required.

CNC-machined aluminium with satin black finish

The housing is CNC-machined from aluminium for a precise, solid and premium finish. It replaces the original plastic case with a more refined metal part that better matches high-end Triumph custom builds.

The satin black finish is designed to blend with black handlebars, headlight brackets, fork areas and modern classic Triumph cockpits.

Weather-sealed with OEM-style vent membranes

The housing uses a silicone gasket between the two main parts to seal the instrument case. OEM-style breathable vent membranes are positioned on the underside of the housing, following the same sealing and ventilation principle used by the original Triumph instrument.

These breathable membranes help regulate internal pressure and manage humidity inside the case, while helping protect the instrument electronics in normal road-use conditions.

As with any motorcycle instrument, avoid directing a high-pressure washer directly at the speedometer housing.

Installation overview

Installation requires removing the original Triumph instrument cluster, opening the OEM plastic speedometer case, transferring the original electronics into the Bonvent aluminium housing, and reinstalling the assembly with the supplied mounting bracket.

The original Triumph rubber anti-vibration mounts are reused from the stock speedometer support. No universal speedometer wiring conversion is required.

Installation can be completed in approximately 2 hours with basic tools. A detailed video installation tutorial will be available soon.

Note: the original Triumph speedometer electronics and OEM rubber anti-vibration mounts are reused during installation.

Product guide

Looking for a Smaller Triumph Speedometer?

Many riders search for a Triumph T120 speedometer, Triumph T100 speedometer, Triumph Bonneville speedometer replacement, Thruxton 1200 speedometer or Speed Twin 1200 speedometer because they want to clean up the front end of the bike. On modern classic Triumph models, the original twin clocks work well, but the stock plastic housing can look too large for a custom build.

The Bonvent Mini Speedometer Housing was created for riders who like the original Triumph speedometer layout but want a smaller, cleaner and more premium cockpit. It keeps the OEM instrument electronics and replaces the bulky plastic case with a compact CNC-machined aluminium housing.

What Is a Triumph Speedometer Conversion Box?

A Triumph speedometer conversion box, also called a speedo box or instrument interface module, is an electronic module used when replacing the original Triumph speedometer with a universal aftermarket gauge.

On modern classic Triumph models such as the Bonneville T100, Bonneville T120, Street Cup, Thruxton 1200 and Speed Twin 1200, the original instrument cluster manages more than speed and RPM. It also displays warning lights, riding information and factory electronic functions depending on the model.

Universal aftermarket speedometers from brands such as Motogadget, Acewell, Koso or Daytona usually need a conversion box to communicate correctly with the motorcycle. Systems such as Peak-Mod VIS-T PRO or Speedo Box LC are designed for riders who want to replace the OEM Triumph instrument with a universal speedometer or tachometer.

These systems can be a good solution for advanced custom builds where the rider wants the smallest possible gauge and has the budget for a full electronic conversion. However, they add cost, wiring complexity and extra electronic components to the motorcycle.

Depending on the motorcycle model, the universal gauge and the conversion setup, not all OEM warning lights may be displayed in the same way as the original Triumph instrument. Some factory electronic functions or display controls can also be limited, relocated or unavailable compared with the stock twin-clock system.

Because a conversion box is an additional electronic module, it also needs to be mounted and protected correctly from vibration, water and weather exposure.

A Different Way to Get a Smaller Triumph Speedometer Look

The Bonvent Mini Speedometer Housing is not a universal speedometer conversion. It does not replace the original Triumph electronics with an aftermarket gauge.

Instead, it keeps the original Triumph speedometer and tachometer electronics, keeps the factory twin-clock character, and replaces the entire OEM plastic outer case with a smaller CNC-machined aluminium housing.

This makes it a cleaner alternative for riders who want a smaller Triumph speedometer look without losing the original warning lights, display logic and factory instrument functions.

Not Just a Triumph Speedometer Cover

Some Triumph speedometer covers or dashboard covers are designed to sit over the original plastic housing. They can improve the finish, but they do not remove the bulky OEM case underneath.

The Bonvent housing is a full aluminium replacement case. The original plastic outer case is removed completely, and the OEM electronics are transferred into the CNC-machined aluminium housing. This creates a cleaner result than a simple speedo cover or decorative dashboard skin.

For Bonneville, Thruxton and Speed Twin Custom Builds

This speedometer housing is designed for liquid-cooled Triumph modern classics using the twin-clock instrument setup. It fits Triumph Bonneville T120, T100 LC, Street Cup, Thruxton 1200 / R / RS and Speed Twin 1200.

It is a strong cockpit upgrade for Triumph Bonneville café racer builds, T100 custom projects, T120 scrambler builds, Thruxton 1200 café racer builds and Speed Twin 1200 tracker-style motorcycles.

The goal is simple: keep the character and functions of the original Triumph twin clocks, but make the front end look smaller, tighter and more premium.

FAQ Speedometer Case for Triumph

Is this a complete Triumph speedometer or only the housing?

This product is the housing, not a complete speedometer. It reuses the original Triumph speedometer and tachometer electronics inside a new CNC aluminium case.

Is this a speedometer cover or a full replacement case?

It is a full replacement case. It does not simply cover the original plastic housing. The entire OEM plastic outer case is replaced with the Bonvent aluminium housing.

Is it safe for my original Triumph speedometer?

Yes. The housing is designed to protect the original Triumph electronics using the same logic as the OEM instrument: a sealed case, a silicone gasket between the two main parts, breathable vent membranes on the underside, and the original rubber anti-vibration mounts reused on the bracket.

Is it waterproof?

The housing is designed for normal road-use weather conditions. It uses a silicone gasket to seal the two main parts and OEM-style breathable vent membranes to help regulate pressure and humidity inside the case. As with any motorcycle instrument, we do not recommend directing a high-pressure washer directly at the speedometer housing.

Does it fit a stock Triumph setup?

Yes. The Bonvent Mini Speedometer Housing is designed to work with a stock Triumph setup. It works with the original headlight, original cockpit layout, stock front-end components and OEM twin-clock electronics. No headlight conversion or major cockpit modification is required.

What is a Triumph speedometer conversion box?

A Triumph speedometer conversion box is an electronic module used to connect a universal aftermarket speedometer or tachometer to the motorcycle. It is normally used when replacing the original Triumph instrument cluster with a gauge from brands such as Motogadget, Acewell, Koso or Daytona.

Do I need a speedometer conversion box to install the Bonvent housing?

No. The Bonvent Mini Speedometer Housing keeps the original Triumph speedometer and tachometer electronics. Because the OEM electronics are reused, no Peak-Mod VIS-T PRO, Speedo Box LC or universal speedometer conversion box is required.

Can I replace the speedometer on a Triumph Bonneville T100 or T120?

Yes, the original speedometer on a Triumph Bonneville T100 or T120 can be replaced with a universal aftermarket gauge, but it usually requires a speedometer conversion box, extra wiring and careful electronic setup. The Bonvent housing is a different solution: it keeps the original Triumph electronics and replaces the bulky OEM plastic case with a smaller aluminium housing.

Can I replace the speedometer on a Triumph Thruxton 1200?

Yes, a Triumph Thruxton 1200 speedometer can be replaced with an aftermarket gauge, but a full conversion can be expensive and technically complex. The Bonvent housing keeps the original Thruxton 1200 instrument electronics and gives the bike a smaller, cleaner cockpit without a universal gauge conversion.

Can I replace the speedometer on a Triumph Speed Twin 1200?

Yes, it is possible to replace the Speed Twin 1200 speedometer with a universal aftermarket gauge, but this usually requires an electronic interface module and extra setup. The Bonvent housing keeps the original Speed Twin 1200 electronics and replaces only the OEM plastic outer case.

Can I fit a mini speedometer on a Triumph T100 or T120?

It is possible to fit a mini aftermarket speedometer on some Triumph builds, but it can be expensive and more complex than it looks. Universal gauges often require an interface module, custom wiring and may display some OEM functions differently. The Bonvent housing gives a smaller cockpit look while keeping the original Triumph instrument.

What are the downsides of a universal aftermarket speedometer conversion?

A universal speedometer conversion can create a very minimal cockpit, but it usually adds cost, wiring complexity and extra electronic components. Depending on the motorcycle model, gauge and conversion setup, some OEM warning lights or factory electronic functions may be displayed differently, relocated or unavailable compared with the stock Triumph instrument.

Is a Motogadget speedometer conversion better than keeping the original Triumph instrument?

A Motogadget speedometer conversion can be a good option for advanced builds where the rider wants the smallest possible gauge and accepts the extra cost and electronic work. For riders who want to keep the original Triumph warning lights, display logic and twin-clock character, the Bonvent housing is a simpler alternative because it keeps the OEM electronics.

Do I need a Peak-Mod VIS-T PRO or Speedo Box LC?

No. A Peak-Mod VIS-T PRO, Speedo Box LC or similar speedometer conversion box is normally used when replacing the original Triumph instrument with a universal gauge such as Motogadget, Acewell, Koso or Daytona. The Bonvent housing keeps the original Triumph electronics, so no universal speedometer conversion box is required.

Why choose the Bonvent housing instead of a mini aftermarket speedometer?

The Bonvent housing gives the original Triumph twin clocks a smaller and more premium aluminium case without replacing the instrument electronics. It is designed for riders who want a cleaner cockpit while keeping the original warning lights, factory functions and classic Triumph twin-clock identity.

Will I keep the original Triumph warning lights and factory functions?

Yes. Because the OEM Triumph electronics are reused, the product is designed to keep the original warning lights, display logic and factory instrument functions.

Do I need to modify the wiring?

No universal speedometer wiring conversion is required. The original Triumph instrument electronics and wiring logic are reused inside the Bonvent housing.

How compact is it compared with the original Triumph housing?

The Bonvent housing is designed to be as compact as possible while keeping the original Triumph electronics inside. The supplied bracket also brings the speedometer assembly closer to the handlebar and front fork area than the stock setup.

Can Bonvent install the housing for me?

Yes, but this optional service is currently reserved for customers located in the European Union only. This avoids customs issues when shipping the original instrument cluster back and forth. If you are in the EU, send us your original Triumph speedometer and we will install the Bonvent aluminium housing before sending it back ready to mount on the motorcycle. The installation service costs €80. Please contact us before shipping your instrument so we can confirm the process and return details.
